Diabetic Shoes and Proper Footcare

Foot Health Awareness Month.........

Thank you for your interest in diabetic shoes. As a diabetic, it is of utmost importance that you take proper care of your feet. That is where we come in. Our goal is to provide you with information on proper care and provide assistance with obtaining diabetic shoes including fitting and insurance billing.

Improper foot care can lead to ulcers, infection, and amputations. According to the American Diabetic Association, 24 million diabetics are at risk for foot complications related to their diabetes-25% of these people will develop foot problems that may lead to amputation. In 1993, Congress passed the Medicare Therapeutic Shoe Bill, allowing qualified persons to receive benefits through Medicare for specially designed shoes and inserts. Let us help you determine if YOU qualify.

CAN YOU ANSEWER YES TO ANY OF THESE FOOT PROBLEMS?

  • Previous amputation of the foot or toes?
  • Previous foot ulcerations or sores?
  • Pre-ulcerative calluses or sores?
  • Peripheral neuropathy or loss of feeling in your feet?
  • Foot deformity?
  • Poor circulation?

If you’re diabetic and answered YES to any of the above, you may qualify for Medicare Assistance for diabetic shoes and inserts.

Medicare (Part B) and your supplemental insurance may cover part or all of the cost of your diabetic footwear. You are eligible for one pair of specially designed extra-depth. Shoes and three pair of heat-moldable or custom fabricated inserts EACH YEAR.
